ISAAR began as the Danavox Symposium. In 1968, the Danavox Jubilee Foundation was established to mark the 25th anniversary of GN Danavox, and the first symposium was held the following year. In 2007, the symposia took on the shared name International Symposium on Auditory and Audiological Research (ISAAR). The Danavox Jubilee Foundation supported the meeting until 2021. Since 2023, ISAAR has been supported by the William Demant Foundation.
Today, the symposium is held every two years in August. It is organised by Prof. Torsten Dau and the Hearing Systems Section, Department of Health Technology, Technical University of Denmark.
